173 pages, 19 plates, green cloth, previous owner’s name on ffep. Frontispiece of the author on safari. Probably privately printed by author with a limited print run of only 400 copies. Some minor stains to the cover, else very good volume in the scarce first edition.

Major Anderson (1878-1946) was one of the founders of the East African Professional Hunters Association (EAPHA) who in April 1946, suffered a major malaria attack, while recovering from it, he completed the manuscript of this volume and delivered it to the Nakuru Press in Nairobi for publication, and died shortly after from pneumonia at the age of 68 before the book was published.

Comes with a Foreword by Lord Cranworth (author of Profit & Sport in British East Africa).

Anderson recalls numerous elephant hunting adventures in Somaliland, the Sudan, and in East Africa's Northern Frontier. There is also an interesting trek with James Sutherland in Tanganyika after elephant. Accounts of leopard and lion hunting are also included, the latter cat mangling Anderson's leg in one attack, an episode which fetched him the sobriquet of "Muguu (leg)" (An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books, 1785 to 1950 - Czech)
