Neil Cunliffe IMON (surveyor, civil engineer and compilor).

An album apparently compiled by Civil Engineer Neil Imon, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, including Imon's business card, and images of surveying, drilling and road construction. [Arkansas: undated but 1920s?]. Octavo (8 1/4 x 6 1/2in; 210 x 165mm). 53 mounted photographs (3 3/8 x 5 3/8in; 85 x 136mm., and smaller) on 17 leaves. Original cloth, a group-portrait tintype mounted on the upper cover. Provenance: Neil Cunliffe Imon (business card mounted on front pastedown).

An interesting series: a sheriff(?) in a broad-brimmed hat with gun-belt; 2 images of drillers; 9 of road construction; 3 of surveying; 20 of college life (featuring Imon?). The tintype on the upper cover is interesting: it features at least two support braces (designed to keep people from moving whilst they were being photographed) - these were a regular feature of studio portraits, but the present image is unusual in that absolutely no attaempt has been made to hide the braces!.
