The Constitution is bound with a MANUSCRIPT COPY of the APPENDIX TO THE GRONDWET in a Folio volume of 129 folio pages. These manuscript copies of an Appendix to the Constitution, written in two clear hands in Dutch. They were produced by the British Colonial Administration after the annexation of TRANSVAAL (Zuid-Afr.Rep.) in 1879. The Appendix comprises Acts accepted by vote by the Government Committee (Executive Council: Government), With the names of the signers of the amendments of the Constitution first proclaimed 1858 at Pretoria, then a village. given with each Act., dated from 1852 to 1858, Names of the signers include M.W.Pretorius,1852 and 1858 (First President of Transvaal). D.A.Botha,Vorsitter, M.W.Pretorius, President, P.P.Pretorius, C.M.Owen, C.Moll,Kruger, Malan. and many others whose names I could not read clearly.Also treated were the 1854 negotiations with the Cape Colony, and Britain accepting the independence of the State of Transvaal except for some restrictions regarding foreign relations. These documents were compiled in print or copied in MS to make them available for the British Colonial Administration. The Folio volume is bound in original light brown cloth with Dominions Office Library on the front cover. A stamp inside dated 25 Nov.1878 by the Colonial Office (C.O.) in London. Thus it was produced in Transvaal after the British annexation of Transvaal, in 1878. An unusual and unique collection.
