where he hunted lion in the Haud region, as well as kudu and
other plains game. During a trip to British East Africa, he encountered
Teddy Roosevelt (who was on his famous safari), and went on to bag
elephant near the Riana River. There are also several chapters devoted
to his experiences in the Boer War, as well as other military obligations.
