Wolvaardt, Wheeler and Scholtz all joined the South African Department of Foreign Affairs in the 1960s and worked into Mr Mandela's presidency. These three volumes contain a plethora of material and show intensive research and the results of careful keeping of diaries and records. Very few South African diplomats have published material on this period. The authors explain how individuals who served in the thirty-five years up to 1993 saw their role and contributed material to these volumes. It is both a "book and an archive".
Published in a limited run, it is difficult to acquire all three volumes and harder to find them signed.
