Johannes Meintjes was a renowned SA artist as well as a prolific author. He wrote monographs on the work of Maggie Laubser (his first book) and Anton Anreith (SA's first sculptor). He wrote several biographies (President Steyn, President Kruger, General De La Rey, Gideon Scheepers, Olive Schreiner) and was also very productive in the fiction genre of writing.
