Half-bound in blue buckram with blue marbled paper sides, with a gilt-on-blue box-ruled title-label to the upper board, plain endpapers, 22 pp of double column text numbered 383-404 plus 2 inserted pp of 4 engravings "for Drakes Voyages" showing (1) "The Clothing and Arms of the Hottentots inhabiting the Cape of Good Hope in Africa" and "Hottentots tearing to pieces a dead ox and eating it" and (2) "The Kraals of the Hottentots" and "The Hottentots manner of attacking Wild Beasts" plus 2 inserted pp of maps "engraved for Drakes Voyages": (1) "Asia" and (2) "the East Indies". The text is mainly Chapters I, II and III from "Kolben's Voyage to the Cape of Good Hope", but includes one page from the end of "Among the Cape de Verde Islands" and one-and-a-half pages from the start of "A short Account of Mr John Nieuhoff's Voyages to the East Indies, with the particulars of the barbarities of the Dutch at Amboyna".

CONDITION. The boards and endpapers are very good with no ownership or other markings and no discolouring. The contents are also very good, with no markings but light page sunning and two small brown stains to one page.
