Previously owned by Professor Guy Elliott, Professor of Medicine in the University of the Witwatersrand, who attended General J C Smuts during his last illness. The book was presented to him by the previous owner, Isie K Smuts, the General's widow. After Elliott's death the copy passed into the ownership of the University of Cape Town.
CONDITION. Complete. Unmarked except for ownership names of Guy Elliott and Isie Smuts. Undiscoloured except of light foxing of early leaves, including the title-page.
