This is a limited edition of 500, this copy is no. 372. Plate 1. a lino copy from a rock painting at Fetcani Glen farm in Barkley East area, signed by Battiss in pencil.

22 plates and 43 pages. Plate no. 18 stained from edge and the bottom corner torn. Plate no. 19 Front edge stained and torn at the bottom corner. Plate no. 20 also edge stained as before but not torn. Plate no. 21 Water stained and the picture of Francois Krige damaged.

The book comprises of three sections:

no. 1. The art of the yellow man.
no. 2. The art of the black man.
no. 3. The art of the white man.

Condition of the book. - The dust jacket is loose and the front cover is marked and water stained on the leading edge as is the front cover. The spine of the dust jacket is missing and there is a small cut on the top edge of the dust jacket.
