Apart from an ownership signature in pencil on the half-title page, this is a very good plus clean in the original olive green cloth with gilt titles on the spine. 319 page. 8vo. The bulk of this book deals comprises the diary of the writer during the Anglo-Boer war and in the Concentration Camps. In the 5 page preface by Hobhouse she mentions that Olive Schreiner had offered to provide a preface to the book but had died before the publication. She quotes Schreiner as saying "It is a 'human document', as the Americans call such a revelation of human nature; I think it is wonderful".
