London: John and Paul Knapton, 1748. 8th, 12 + 548 p. illustr. with three folded maps, one of them split, but without losses. Period binding in full leather, label on leather. First cover somewhat loose. Wear. George Anson, English Commodore, in 1740 commanded an expedition with eight more ships to fight the Spanish at Cape Horn and off the coast of Chile. Much of the crew perished. Anson captured the Manila Galleons near China on his trade route from Acapulco (Mexico) to the Philippines.
Rare book, scarce, recommended.

Magnificent maps of the southern part of South America, part of the Pacific Ocean, and the Centurion ship's route around the world.
