How it works

Register

A few years before the publication of this book the translator asked for permission to prepare and publish an Afrikaans version and in granting this permission Ramsay MacDonald asked that it should be made clear that the original had been published in 1903 and had not since been revised. Coetzee provides footnotes in the rare instances when the author\'s reportage seemed to differ from other accounts.

Drawn-on ivory card covers, black to front and spine. 223 pages including 2 pp of publisher\'s announcements, double-sided frontispiece plate and several other illustrations in the text. The covers and the top of the frontispiece leaf are foxed or stained and there are a good number of marginal marks.
