John Murray, London Albemarle Street, W., 1914. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. VG, 1st ed, 1910, complete - 30 pls + 1 map. In the publishers faded blue cloth, gilt titles. edges rubbed. Gilt titles, edges bumped. Internally, half title, frontis, [4], (v-xii), [1], 2-876 pp, 30 pls (B&W photographic), 1 map (folding, coloured in outline), t.e.g, printed by Morrison & Gibb. Worm holes to cloth intruding onto first and last 100pp., some light browning, original gilt lettered cloth with black device to upper board, spine bumped with fraying to corners intruding down upper board. 

Reginald Charles Fulke Greville changed his surname to Maugham by Deed Poll in 1905. He was Secretary to Nyasaland Administration 1894. He had various Consular posts in various parts of Africa from 1896-1928. Maugham's vast recollection of adventures hunting big game in what is now Zimbabwe and Zambia during the British colonial era are true stories vividly described in his book.
