Records of a Sportsman from August 1894 to November 1897, when crossing the Dark Continent from the mouth of the Zambesi to the French Congo. Translated from the French by Frederic Lees. Edouard Foa, F R G S, Grande Medaille d'Or of the Paris Geographical Society. xvi + 330 pp of text, a table, an appendix and an index. There are 36 illustrations in the text + a frontispiece portrait of the author and 29 other inserted plates, including a 2-colour map + 10 pp of publisher's announcements, Blue cloth-boards with a gilt elephant illustration to the upper board, gilt lettering to the spine and a gilt top page edge. Plain black endpapers. Covers in remarkably good condition apart from 1 stain on spineand a few corners mildly bumped. Foxing on half title page etc and on a few of the ads at the rear. , London  1st English ed.
