Leather spine with gilt decorations and titling on a red title label and paper covered boards.

xii prelims, 339 text pages followed by 4 pages of the publisher's catalogue.

This copy is the true first issue and has the uncorrected running head on page 247 as " THE CAPE OF GO ODHOPE." See the image provided.

CONDITION DETAILS: The binding has signs of age and wear. The front end papers have some pencil writing and soiling. There is a previous owner's inscription at the bottom of the title page. A small piece is missing from the bottom right hand side of the title page. There is a small hole in the margin of the dedication. Overall, a clean copy that has survived in above average condition.
