Published by Neville Spearman & The Holland Press, London, 1960. Near Fine. BELL OF AFRICA. Neville Spearman, London 1960, the scarce 1st edition, 236 pages, illustrated in B & W by the author. Includes an appendix on rifles and shooting. Autobiography of one of the greatest of the old professional elephant hunters. Compiled and edited from his own papers after his death by his lifelong friend, Col. Townsend Whelen.

Bell was the greatest of the old professional elephant hunters. This is his autobiography of growing up in Scotland and reaching Africa at the age of 17. Here he joined with Canadian volunteers in the Boer War. He remained in Africa until the WWI when he returned to England and learned to fly and joined the Royal Flying Corps. Sent to East Africa, he flew and fought until the Armistice. He remained in Africa until 1932. Really, a thrilling narrative of a life of adventure;
