Owen, John, and Louis Elzevir. Epigrammatum Ioan. Oweni Cambro Brittani Oxoniensis. Amsterdam: Apud Lud. Elzevirium, 1647.

[6] 212 pages, engraved frontispiece portrait and title page. The text, which collects Owner's separate publications, is divided into sections, each dedicated to a different person, and each further divided into books.  A short musical notation is found on p. 22.

Early full leather binding, heavily gilt spine, red morocco gilt-lettered label, blind ruled covers with decorative roll at spine edge; fore-edges of boards also blind stamped. Points rubbed, chipped; joints cracked.

Rev. Charles W. Jones’ engraved bookplate (blackbird emblem) pasted over an earlier plate, adhered to both cover and ffe. Inscribed on blank, “C. W. Jones from W. H. Q.” (most likely William Hollingsworth Quayle, Jones' uncle.) Charles William Jones, ordained in 1849,  followed his father in becoming Vicar of Pakenham, a position he held from 1861 to 1904. (See: THE VICARS OF PAKENHAM. BY REV. CHARLESWILLIAM JONES, M.A., Suffolk Institute online.)

John Owen (c. 1564 - c. 1622/1628) was a Welsh epigrammatist, most known for his Latin epigrams, collected in his Epigrammata (Wikipedia.)
