Dustcover over quarter bound boards, illustrated endpaper.

This book is dedicated to all people who dream of adventure in the wide open spaces of the world and answer its call.

And to all the people in this book who had this in common: a strong spirit of freedom, an all pervasive dedication to their venture and the future of the territories and people they came across, the relationship between the hunter and his tracker, linked in a strong bond of mutual trust and admiration.

Emily Host was born in 1913 in Dunedin, New Zealand and developed her writing abilities during her formative years there. After the Second World War, she and her Danish husband Bent lived in East Africa where she worked as a journalist and public relations officer.
