[London: printed by W. Nicol,] 1843. Octavo (8 3/4 x 5 5/8in; 222 x 143mm). Text listing 1363 lots, manuscript pricing throughout, manuscript listing of page totals and grand total of £1270.16 for all 6 days.

Contents condition: soiling and toning, particularly to the first and last pages, various stabbed holes at upper inner quadrant, uncut.

Contemporary leather-backed boards, manuscript titling to old paper label on spine

Condition of binding: spine scuffed, cloth strengthening to inner margins of first and last leaf.

Provenance: 'Excise Office' (early manuscript note on title)

A work-a-day copy of the quite rare auction catalogue of an important collection belonging to a founder member of the Roxburghe Club: John Delafield Phelps (1764-1842) who was a landowner and bibliophile who lived at Chavenage House, near Tetbury, in Gloucestershire. The catalogue includes a Shakespeare 1st folio and a number of incunables, including works from Chaucer and others printed by Caxton, and Wynkyn de Worde.
