535 pages (pages [390] - [457] or sections *1 - *5 are additional to the pagination making a total of 603 pages - all copies were issued thus), 3 colour folding maps, chromolithographic frontispiece 'Regiment of Flamingoes - Swakop River', 7 engraved plates, 27 wood-engraved illustrations in the text, original blind stamped green cloth - lightly rubbed, original brown endpapers with the joints replaced with cloth and preserving the binder's ticket of Edmonds & Remnants at the bottom of the rear paste-down endpaper, edges uncut, signature of a previous owner (dated Christmas 1867) on the front free endpaper, contents bright, a very good copy contained in a green cloth slipcase.
