JONATHAN WHITE'S NEW ZEALAND is the most significant book of New Zealand landscape paintings for more than a hundred years.

Not since the colonial artists like Angas, Heaphy, Barraud and Gully has a New Zealand artist attempted such a representative portfolio of oil colours of New Zealand. Jonathan White continues the traditions set by the 19th century artists where works are in demand throughout the world.

The artist spent many months and in some cases years finding the ideal localities from which to capture his New Zealand. This prized portfolio provides a diverse personal view of the beauty of New Zealand.

Forty-0ne paintings of distinctly New Zealand scenes are included- 20 from each of the main islands and one from Stewart Island. Each reflects Jonathan White's deep love of his land and his acute talent for capturing it for others to share. Pencil sketches accompany each painting, providing historical and natural vignettes to complement the subjects in oils.

Brief descriptive and historical texts by the noted historian John Hall-Jones accompany each painting. The pair also worked together on Jonathan White's first published collection of landscapes. New Zealand's Majestic Wilderness, a selection of paintings reflecting the beauty and remoteness of rugged Fiordland.
