Siggins recounts hunting lions in Rhodesia, both lions and leopards in Mozambique, plus encounters with hippopotamus and crocodiles as well. Near the Rovuma River, elephants and buffalo are bagged. Hunting the big cats, however, captured Siggins' attention the most: "It is a fascinating business to hunt man-killers and in comparison shooting big buck or even elephant is tame sport." He ultimately admits that the mosquito was the biggest man killer in Africa.
