(Lacking 6 plates from the second volume, spotting, occasionally heavy, light soiling, occasional small marginal tears). Original morocco-backed moire’d cloth, titled in gilt on the upper covers (disbound, damage to spines [see images], some soiling to covers).
A near-complete set of this famous pictorial survey of the great houses of England, most from the Elizabethan and Jacobean period. Nash's served as a sourcebook for architects but, as early as 1841, this work was referenced before a parliamentary select committee as an element in the growing popular taste for visiting historic buildings.
