Sir George Cory * Stoke Newington, London, 3.6.1862. + Cape Town 28.4.1935. Well known historian of South Africa. Came to S.A. in 1891. First professor of Chemistry at St. Andrews College, Grahamstown. He was appointed Government Historiographer after Theal's death. He was especially interested in the 1820 Settlers and Eastern Cape.
