COVERT Mfg. Co. (publishers).

[Horse Harnesses, etc.] Covert’s Horse and Mule Jewelry Bulletin. Vol.2 … No.2. [No place but probably West Troy, NY: undated but after 9th November 1882]. Broadside (30 x 28 inches; 762 x 711mm), printed recto only in five unequal columns with a banner headline across the top. (Folded, splits small chips, five tape repairs).

According to the headline 50,000 copies of this attractive advertising broadside were printed and ‘mailed free to every dealer in hardware, saddlery`, etc. in the United States’. The broadside’s highly ephemeral nature means that it is now very rare. The majority of the text is about copyright infringements and the (successful) prosecution of ‘Patent Pirates’ and their ilk by Covert.

No other copies of this issue located, but OCLC record a single example of another issue of ‘…Bulletin’ [No.3-4] from 1883, which is in the Marion duPont Sporting Collection in the University of Virginia Library [call number Broadside 1883.C68].
