1.) DIE ILIAS "The Iliad"

First Afrikaans edition published by Pro Ecclesia, Stellenbosch, [1954].

The first translation of the Iliad was the product of seven years' work (1945-52) by J. P. J. van Rensburg, Professor of Classical Languages at the University of Stellenbosch. It was translated directly from the ancient Greek.

Publisher's oxblood cloth binding with gilt titles on front panel and spine. Housed in the publisher's original slipcase.

2.) DIE ODUSSEIA "The Odyssey"

First Afrikaans edition published by Human & Rousseau, Kaapstad & Pretoria, 1963.

The first translation of the Odyssey was the product of yet another seven years' work (1955-62) by Professor J. P. J. van Rensburg and this text is a direct translation from the ancient Greek.
