1.) HITLER OVER AFRICA by Benjamin Bennett

First edition published by T. Werner Laurie, London, 1939.

197pp.

Very good condition in the scarce original dust jacket.

'The author - a well-known African journalist who has personally investigated the situation, describes the present underground Nazi propaganda in Germany's former colonies in Africa.

He shows how the establishment of air and naval bases in South-West Africa and Tanganyika would threaten British shipping to the Cape and also to the East.

Mr. Bennett witnessed the German ceremony of "Ordeal by Fire," when members of the Pfadfinders (see second item below) and the Meiden Bund were required to leap fire hurdles and swear fealty to the Fuhrer; and he describes his vigil in the native quarters at Walvis Bay when propagandists addressed a gathering of Natives and promised the "release from oppression" when Herr Hitler returns to Africa.' - editor's note

2.) JAHRBUCH 1939 DER DEUTSCHEN PFADFINDER VON SUDWESTAFRIKA "Year Book of the German Pathfinders of South West Africa" (1939)

First edition published by John Meinert, Windhuk (Windhoek), South West Africa, 1939.

Publisher's brown cloth binding with brown titles on front panel.

208pp. Illustrated.

An unused yearbook for German pathfinders of South West Africa. The booklet is illustrated with numerous black and white images and contains short notes of important historical events in both Germany as well as the German colony of South West Africa. On the 20th of April, for example, there is a note reminding the reader of the Führer's birthday. A note for the 21st of April indicates that Baron von Richthofen was shot down on that day, and on the 11th of August Von Trotha battled against the Herero in the Waterberg.

A very interesting and scarce South West African booklet printed and published at Windhoek, South West Africa by the firm of John Meinert.
