1. Commando Courageous - A Boer's Diary. By R.W. Schikkerling

Roland Schikkerling's humorous, soulful, and poignant memoir of life on Commando during the Anglo-Boer War. Published: Hugh Keartland, Johannesburg, 1964 . Pages 396. A good copy in the dust jacket.

2. Kruger, Kommandos & Kak. Debunking the myths of the Boer War. By Chris Ash.

Paperback with 527 pages in very good condition.

The second Boer War is the most important war in South African history; indeed, without it, South Africa would likely have not existed. But it’s also one of the least understood conflicts of the era. Over a century of Leftist bleating and insidious, self-serving revisionism, first by Afrikaner nationalists and then by the apartheid regime, has left the layman with a completely skewed view of the war.

3. Music of the Guns. By Henry John May

Based on two journals of the Boer War.  This most unusual book about the Anglo-Boer War is based on two remarkable interlocking journals; one by Freda Schlosberg, a farmer's 14-year old daughter, and the other by James Alexander Kay, an English Doctor. 1970 first edition hardcover with dust jacket in very neat condition. 170 pages and then another 20 pages with appendix, notes, biographical sketches, glossary and index.  1970 first edition. A good copy in the dust jacket.

4. The Dynamics of Treason - Albert Grundlingh

Boer collaboration in the South African War of 1899- 1902.

2006 first English translation. 532 pages. Printed by Protea Book House in Pretoria. Unread copy. Pictorial boards.

Allegations of treason, real or imagined, always rankle. So much more when a life and death struggle of a nation is perceived to be at stake. Yet treason is common in warfare and accusations of sedition abound in any war. While this book focuses specifically on the intricacies of alleged Afrikaner treason during a particularly volatile period, the analysis is also informed by an awareness of treason in the wider context.
