ANGLO-RHODESIAN NEGOTIATIONS
Salisbury - November 1971
The official Government photographic record of the visit of Sir Alec Douglas Hume the British Foreign Secretary and entourage . Negotiations as to a solution for the UDI impasse. The result was the ill-fated Pearce Commission of 1972 that was soundly rejected by the African majority.
On a personal note I recall standing outside Parliament at the end of his visit when the Prime Minister announced the agreement and plan going forward. The proceedings inside were broadcast by loudspeaker to crowd outside.
