Photographic portrait mounted on stiff card, 177 x 109 mm, signed 'Yours truly, C.J. Rhodes' in the bottom right hand corner. Stain down the left hand side.

Published by Russell & Sons, Photographers to H.M. the QUEEN. 17 Baker Street, W2., a prestigious studio of the era, which held a Royal Warrant.

The cabinet card was a style of photograph that was widely used for photographic portraiture after 1870.

Inscribed on the back, 'Cecil Rhodes photo, he gave to Dr Te Water when he was in his cabinet.'
