First Edition: 323 pages, photogravure frontispiece portrait of President Kruger printed on India paper (the borders are foxed), dedication page to Kruger, profusely illustrated throughout with full-page and other photographs and drawings by war artists, tactical sketch maps and a double-page map of the South African Republic, Orange Free State, Natal, and Cape Colony at the end, recently rebound in half black cloth the paper sides, a very good copy.

This large volume is one of the premier Dutch commemorative works expressing deep European sympathy for the Boer Republics against the British Empire. It captures the spirit of contemporary Dutch-Afrikaner solidarity.

Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography, volume 1, page 811, 'This handsome work was published in twenty parts, bringing the account of the war up to the period when President Kruger arrived in Holland. There are a large number of interesting plates, and a chronological review of the hostilities up to the date of publication.'
