Mendelssohn (Sydney) South African Bibliography, volume 2, page 532, 'An interesting account of the Zulus and their country from 1849-1888. Mr Tyler was fully of opinion that Sir Bartle Frere's policy was justified, and that the Zulu Problem was a question which had to be settled without delay in view of the military situation in Cetywayo's country. He observes "that Natal was in peril, no clear-headed man can deny. The colonists were near the crater of a volcano liable at any time to eruption. Cetywayo could not control his warriors." There is a valuable chapter on Zulu folklore, and the volume is illustrated by a large number of original drawings.'
