An Afrikaner, Burger, hunted throughout Central Africa, particularly for buffalo which he had become well acquainted with while serving as a meat hunter for troops in Africa during the Great War. His narrative spans several decades, encompassing exploits from the Lado Enclave to the Belgian Congo, Tanganyika and Northern Rhodesia.
