HYALIS - LE PETIT FAUNE AUX YEUX BLEUS

(Hyalis - The Small Faun With Blue Eyes)

HYALIS - LE PETIT FAUNE AUX YEUX BLEUS is a poetic short story written by French author Albert Samain, first published in the Weekly Magazine in 1896. Many illustrated editions of the work have been produced over time, some having become collector's items.

The short story tells the story of Hyalis, a young fauna born from the union of an egipan and a mortal. He is endowed with a double nature, half-divine, half-human, which makes him different and isolates him. The work explores the themes of impossible love and unhappiness.

This is a particularly famous edition is the one published by F. Ferroud in 1918, with many color illustrations by Gustave-Adolphe Mossa.

A personal note.  There was just something about this book that grabbed my heart when I first opened it.  Be prepared too have yours grabbed too by it.
