142 pages, frontispiece, 2 folding maps, 7 illustrations, blue cloth boards, a very good copy.

In 1782 the East Indiaman the Grosvenor was wrecked off the Natal Coast. A search was made for survivors but none was found. Rumours, however, persisted that there were, in fact, survivors living among the K****rs and in 1790 an expedition was raised to search for them. Professor Kirby gives an account of this expedition; who planned it and why; who joined the party, etc. He gives the Dutch text and the English translation of Van Reenan's Journal kept during the expedition.'
