(MPLA)

MPLA flag purportedly captured in the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale by South African Defence Force soldiers during the Angola Civil War in 1988 near Mavinga, where the FAPLA had retreated.

The flag was captured during Operation Packer and obtained from a former member of the Rhodesian S.A.S.

Black and red flag with a gold star in the centre, a rope for hanging stitched into the hoist, with a large tear and section missing from the top section of the flag.

Measures 36 x 53.5 inches. (90cm x 134cm)

Various documents on the conflict that came with the flag.
