8vo, 328pp. + 389pp. Half leather hardcover bindings, marbled boards, 4 raised bands, gilt lettering to spines, steelpoint engraving of author as frontispiece in vol. 1, and fold-out map of “New Spain” (Mexico) at front of vol. 2. Marbled endpapers and edges.

To which are annexed some observations on the practicability of opening a commerce between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, through the Mexican Isthmus, in the province of Oaxaca, and at the Lake of Nicaragua, and of the vast importance of such commerce to the civilized world” (Subtitle of book)

Condition: Overall very good. Light rubbing and minor edgewear to boards, some scuffing to leather binding, minor spots of wear to spines, slight stain to frontispiece of vol. 1, offsetting to title page from frontispiece of vol. 1, some creasing to fold-out map in vol. 2, and open tear along one of its folds. Slight foxing throughout, but text is overall clean, and both volumes are well bound.
