A description of the Boer colony in Chubut, Argentina. After the defeat of the Boers by the British in the Anglo-Boer War, numerous Boer families decided to emigrate to Argentina to start a new life, rather than live under British rule. The author was one of the emigrant Boers who decided to repatriate to South Africa in 1935.
In Argentina today there are still a handful of descendants of these original emigrants who speak Afrikaans, albeit an Afrikaans with a heavy Spanish influence.
