Eugene Marais' oeuvre consists of a decent body of short prose, a most significant contribution to poetry, numerous scientific studies and articles . . . and only three plays. Nag (published posthumously) was his final attempt at the genre, although there is a general consensus that it was not exactly his strongest form of artistic expression.
