'The work, with regard to the letterpress as well as the illustrations, is confined to that part of Bechuanaland which at the commencement of the twentieth century was ruled over by Khama. A good deal of information is afforded respecting the growth of religion and education amongst the natives, with some particulars regarding the life of the white inhabitants of the protectorate. There are views of the deserted capital Shoshong, the town of Palapye, the residences of Khama, Sekgome, Bathoen, &c., together with portrait of the chiefs and of their families, and many other illustrations, mainly depicting the social life of the natives in Bechuanaland.' - Mendelssohn Vol.II, page 617
