2 volumes: I. viii, 486. II. 342 pages, folding engraved frontispiece in volume 2, 25 engraved folding plates, half leather with sprinkled paper sides, the leather is worn and frayed at the top and bottom of the spine, uncut edges, the contents are crisp, clean and bright, complete with the half title pages, a very good copy.
A South African Bibliography, volume 3, page 574, 'According to the "Voorrede" in volume I this is an edited and corrected version of Kolbe's Naaukeurige en Uitvoerige Beschryving van de Kaap De Goede Hoop incorporating information from other sources which are acknowledged on page vi. A note in the British Museum copy states: Edited and brought up to date from the Dutch edition of 1727, by Petrus Conradi.'
Kennedy (R.F.) Africana Repository, 1963, page 67, '....There are also several folding illustrations from the same plates as those in the Dutch edition of Kolbe. The names of the artists and engravers have been scraped off the plates and the page numbers have been altered on the plates.' As was common practice at the time, the copper plates of the original edition of 1727 were probably acquired by Conradi who adapted them for his new edition. Kolbe died in 1726.
