Red cloth covers with the titles in gilt to the font board and spine. Frontispiece portrait. 333 pages. Inscribed in front and dated January 1890: Mr and Ms Dennis, with the author's kind regards. One section of 15 pages knitted together, is now loose from the rest of the book.
The author accompanied Bishop Colenso on his voyage to South Africa in 1855, and was ordained by him in 1858. He was appointed to a mission on the "Little Umhlanga" on the coast, but later on, removed to Durban, where he filled the post of military chaplain, and other offices. The volume contains many letters from Bishop Colenso, and details regarding th Episcopal disputes in Natal. (Mendelssohn's vol. 2 page 231)
