Jurgen Schadeberg worked for Drum magazine for many years, and photographed the cultural, social and music life in the 1950s. The book is filled with photographs by Schadeberg and chapters by Anthony Sampson, Can Themba, Ezekiel Mphahlele, Nelson Mandela, Nat Nakasa, Todd Matshikiza and Bloke Modisane.
This edition was published by Nedbank in green skivertex leather and gilt lettering to front cover. It has a bookmark inserted. Slight spotting to first page.
