Contains 10 etchings showing the Devil in various guises, including his rise on a brimstone bed, journey to London and the countryside, his influence on a lawyer and apothecary, his visits to a bookshop and to a prisoner in Cold Bath Fields, and his encounter with an apparition of General Gascoigne. Each accompanied by 4 engraved lines of verse from The Devil's Thoughts by Southey and Coleridge. Introduction printed with a wood-engraved vignette showing the Devil in glasses reading the Sunday Times.

Rebacked in blue cloth with spine and hinges cracked but holding with more recent end papers. There is a fair amount of foxing though minimally on the prints. The 8th plate has paper damage and the page with the 9th plate is loose.
