The scarce first edition of this title - possibly the most collected first edition of Forester's canon, largely as a result of the classic film of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.
A good plus copy in the original brown cloth with gilt spine titles. The binding is somewhat worn with some fraying at the top of the spine and some rubbing and wear along the joints. There is a rubber stamp of a Priory on the front free endpaper and a signature in pencil on the front pastedown, otherwise the book is clean internally and tight with intact hinges. A just about collectable copy with a low reserve price or possibly a very clean copy suitable for fine rebinding.
