The "Rennie" Grading System: This survey established the grading system (Grades 1, 2, 3, etc.) that is still the ancestor of the heritage management systems used by Heritage Western Cape and the City of Cape Town today. It documents Cape Town as it looked in the late 1970s. Many of the buildings catalogued in these books have since been demolished or radically altered, making this the only record of their original state.
