284 pages, colour frontispiece, 6 maps, numerous illustrations, black cloth gilt. Dust jacket.

Multi-signed on front pages by several officers of rank.

A comprehensive history of this famous Regiment. For the greater part of the century the Kimberley Regiment has held a prominent and honoured place in the history of arms in South Africa, both before and after Union, and it is indeed fitting that this has now been recorded in this work.

Great credit for this is due to the untiring efforts of Commandant A.S.Hall.

The history has been divided into three parts. Part I deals with the early units from Kimberley from which the Kimberley Regiment was directly descended with the Dutoitspan Hussars formed in 1876. Then follows the Diamond Fields Horse, which in 1899 amalgamated with the Kimberley Rifles to form the Kimberley Regiment proper.Part II deals with the campaigns-the early Kaffir wars, the South African War, and two World Wars, with particular reference in the latter case to the amalgamated I.L.H/Kim.R. in the Italian Campaign. Part III contains biographies of individuals who played important parts in the Regiment.
