Dr Joshua Norman Haldeman (1902-1974) was an American-born Canadian who emigrated to South Africa in 1950. He settled with his family in Pretoria where he became a well-known chiropractor. Haldeman's philosophical views on technocracy have had a profound influence on his grandson Elon Musk.

This was a self-published work, originally priced at five shillings. It is extremely uncommon, worldcat.org locates only two copies worldwide - one in the University of the Free State, and one in the Michigan State University Library.

A rare and controversial Cold War-era political tract by Dr. Joshua Norman Haldeman, noted chiropractor, aviator, and the grandfather of tech magnate Elon Musk. Written in the wake of the Sharpeville massacre and mounting global condemnation of apartheid, this self-published work rails against what the author calls a worldwide conspiracy of communist forces, international bankers, and anti-Christian agitators.

Framed within a fiercely pro-apartheid, white supremacist ideology, Haldeman warns of a plot to erode Western civilization and replace national sovereignty with a “world dictatorship.” The pamphlet blends anti-communist paranoia with conspiratorial antisemitism, making it both an unsettling historical artefact and a vivid example of 20th-century reactionary propaganda.

Exceptionally scarce, with very few known copies in circulation and only limited archival holdings worldwide. A striking piece for collectors of Africana, political ephemera, or those tracing the lesser-known ideological lineage behind one of today’s most influential families.
