First edition: xii,386 pages, wood engraved frontispiece, 3 engraved plates, half brown leather with marbled paper sides, endpapers and edges. A new gilt title label on the spine. The leather is worn as are the marbled paper sides. Library label carelessly removed from the front paste-down endpaper and the front free endpaper has been removed. The contents and plates are in very good condition.
Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography, volume 1, page 42. After the death of Mr Andersson, his voluminous papers and notes came into the possession of Mr. L. Loyd. The volume has been compiled from these sources, and it comprises an interesting collection of anecdotes concerning the lion and the elephant and a few full-page engravings.
