Redbrown cloth covers with the title to the spine, pictorial dust jacket, 72 pages. Signed by both authors on the ffep, with a sketch added by Papas. Dated 7th Oct 52. A copy in very good condition.

Includes visits and sketches to the Malay Quarter, Old Supreme Court, Wale & Bloem & Long & Plein streets, Parliament, the Gardens & Parade & Castle, Michaelis Art Gallery, Lutheran Church, Fish Market, District Six, Kalk bay, Simonstown, Hope and Roeland Streets.

This book is a presentation of Cape Town as seen by two comparative strangers from the Transvaal who were drawn to the Cape by its warmhearted, white-gabled friendliness.

Papas has attempted with his drawings to get between the covers of a book the history-soaked atmosphere of the city Cape Town, While Sussens has contributed legends and anecdotes to bring to life the personality and the personalities of a city three centuries old.
